Dr. Ramesh Kr. Mehta delivered an invited talk at the National Summit of Institutional Leaders (NSIL). The event was held at Doon University on March 1, 2025. He explained how Patenting by Academia will help in developing the Industry-Academia Collaboration.
His talk emphasized the significance of intellectual property, especially by safeguarding patent rights on their inventions in fostering strong ties between academic institutions and the industry. He suggested that emphasis should not be merely on framing IPR policy, but should be on developing Patent Habit / Patent Hobby of the Faculty and Students of the academia institutes.
By securing patent rights, universities and research institutions can bridge the gap between innovation and commercialization.
The summit had been organized by Doon University in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education, Uttarakhand, UCOST, and Vidya Bharti. It brought together key institutional leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to discuss ways to strengthen educational frameworks and research initiatives.
Dr. Mehta’s lecture was well-received, sparking engaging discussions on how academic research can contribute to industrial advancements through effective patent strategies.
